Congress acquired this property in 2020 to redevelop and expand the existing building to provide new medical office and retail space on the ground floor. A new state of the art tower will be built featuring medical research space and a parking garage as Phase II. Currently, the space is utilized as a parking lot. The project is located in the heart of the Miami Health District. With over 153 acres, it is the second largest medical district in the United States and has over 76,000 employees.
The site is located at 1050 NW 14th Street, next to the University of Miami Soffer Center. The site sits immediately to the north side of the 836 Dolphin Expressway and has a direct exit servicing the site.
The site is within walking distance of all three major hospitals; Jackson, University of Miami and The Veterans Hospital. It is also within easy walking distance to all the clinics and specialty medical providers.
The site is also within walking distance to the Metromover. This automated train system allows easy connections to the airport, downtown and Coral Gables without having to drive. This system also provides a direct connection to the Tri Rail System and the Brightline Express Passenger System.
Highland Medical Center will be the first new construction available to the public in over a decade. The project will offer its tenants a full compliment of services including additional meeting space, daycare, fitness center, restaurants and banking.
